Janaka appointed to main board of A. Baur & Co.

Janaka Gunasekera has been appointed as a Director to the Board of A. Baur and Company with effect from January 1, 2009.

Gunasekera was born in 1960 and graduated in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He started his career as an executive at one of the leading state-owned fertiliser companies in Sri Lanka. After two years, he joined A. Baur & Co. Ltd and at present counts 20 years of service in the company, which was established in 1897. He is responsible for Marketing, Production, Product Development and Administration of Fertiliser and Plant Protection Chemicals. He is liaising with all statutory organisations with regard to policy matters in relation to the fertiliser industry.

He is also coordinating the Steering Committee of the company, which acts as an independent think tank for the organisation. “We welcome Gunasekera to our board and wish him continued success,” said the Board of Directors, A. Baur & Co. Ltd.
