takes over as AMCHAM Executive Director
The
American Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (AmCham) has appointed
Chullant Jayasuriya as the new Executive Director of the Chamber.
The appointment follows Executive Director Gordon Glick, who
has taken a leave of absence.
Chullants previous positions include a ten year period
as Secretary General / CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce,
Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Shippers Council,
Project Manager, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
Sri Lankas Invest-in-Peace Project and Field Coordinator
/ Local Economy Specialist of UNDPs Tsunami Recovery
Unit in the Hambantota District. He was appointed Consultant
to the Social Indicator - Centre for Policy Alternatives in
June 2008, by the Asia Foundation, for a climate survey on
Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Trade Associations.
Chullant is a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics
and Transport, United Kingdom and has obtained Post-Graduate
qualifications in International Business & International
Trade Law from Monash University, Australia. He brings over
two decades of experience in international trade, policy planning
implementation and international development cooperation to
the American Chamber.
The Chamber also welcomed Jerome Auvity to the Board of Directors.
French born Jerome takes the reigns at the Hilton Colombo.
Having graduated from the International Hotel School, Lausanne,
Switzerland in 1988, his career in hospitality spans 21 years.
Jerome began his career with the Hilton chain in 1990 as a
Restaurant Manager at the Hilton Taipei. Growing from strength
to strength, he worked at the Hilton Osaka in Japan, the Hilton
Singapore, and was General Manager of Hilton Kyongju, Korea,
Hilton Narita, Japan, Grand Hilton Seoul, Korea, Hilton Hanoi
Opera, Vietnam and finally at the Hilton Sydney, Australia,
prior to taking up the reins here at the Hilton Colombo. Jerome
is joined in Sri Lanka by his wife, son and daughter.
AMCHAM also announced the departure from its Board Messrs.
William Costley and Jean-Pierre Assaf who have left the island
to take up positions in Kuala Lumpur and Paris, respectively.
