Lanka lures 650 delegates for India’s Max New York do

One of the biggest conferences of this year with over 650 Indian delegates took place in Sri Lanka recently.  Max New York Life Insurance, one of India’s leading Insurance Companies, chose Sri Lanka for the third consecutive time and on this occasion with a large contingent of over 650 delegates attending a conference under the theme ‘Leaders for Life 09’

This was a successful event organised through the joint effort of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, SriLankan Airlines and the MICE industry to entice the Indian Corporates, in keeping with the vision of Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda to promote Sri Lanka to the Indian market. In fact, Minister Moragoda recently completed a successful tourism promotion effort in Gujarat.

Speaking of their experience, CEO and MD of Max New York Life Insurance Co Ltd Rajesh Sud said ‘It was a pleasure to organise our Annual Conference: Leaders for Life ‘09 at Sri Lanka. The conference ran very smoothly and the feedback from the delegates has been outstanding. In addition to the flawless service offered by the people involved in organising the event, we also enjoyed the natural environment, the rich culture & heritage and the beautiful accommodation that Sri Lanka offers. It was a wonderful experience & we look forward for an opportunity to visit Sri Lanka again’.

‘This was a great opportunity for Sri Lanka, said Chairman SLCB Prema Cooray. Max Life New York is one of the most admired and leading Life Insurance Companies in India’.

‘Among the key officials who contributed a lot to secure this visit were Deputy Minister Faiszer Mustapha, Chairman SLCB Prema Cooray, CEO SriLankan Manoj Gunawardena and his able Managers and the SLCB team with Nimalaka Morahela’ added  Vipula  Wanigasekera, General Manager of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau

The conference was held at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre while Cinnamon Grand acted as the official hotel. The delegates had their welcome dinner at Mt Lavinia hotel and the hotel had glamorously arranged the venue for the evening.  Sri Lanka Convention Bureau presented a traditional and improvised dance recital from the Budhawatte Troupe.

The delegates had a day’s excursion at Bentota Beach Hotel.  Walker Tours took the responsibility of transporting the delegates throughout their stay in Sri Lanka.

Since their first visit, Max Life has been immensely satisfied with Sri Lankan hospitality which triggered the following two visits. SLCB extends its gratitude to the Deputy Minister Faiszer Mustapha for his prompt action to arrange security when the organisers expressed concern. Their perceptions had changed when the contingent was departing after seeing the real ground situation.

Sri Lanka Tourism is also thankful to Mach Conferences and Events PVT Limited, specially Amith Bhatiya for his untiring efforts to make this event a success. His ability to plan well ahead of time with partners and timely actions were commendable.

The visit of a blue chip like Max Life will have a tremendous impact on our efforts in India. The company has over 15,000 employees. It offers over 30 products covering both life and health insurance that can be customised to over 800 combinations. No doubt all of them will hear of the journey of their colleagues and the wonderful time they had in Sri Lanka.

Max New York Life has been among many other leading brands that have been brought to Sri Lanka by the MICE industry through the efforts of SLCB and SriLankan airlines; among them were WIPRO, Virtusa, Titan, BOSCH, Microsoft, Coca Cola, TVS, Johnson and Johnson, Cisco, Tata, Infosys, Sony Ericsson.
