The
Emirates Airlines to celebrate the success of their
inaugural classic Golf Tournament which took place at
the Royal Colombo Golf Club moved for the awards ceremony
to the Golden Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel and a gala
celebration with a concert and dinner.
“Legends in Concert” featured songs from the
60’s, 70’s and 80’s performed by stars
of the calibre of Maxie Rosairo, Sohan Weerasinghe,
Marise and Shenelle, Ricky Bahar, Damien and Umara.
It was a glitzy showbiz of a production with the Canto
Perpetua Choir in a guest spot. Unfortunately the show
was too long and the concert atmosphere could not be
sustained.
The awards were presented to the winners in several
categories after Emirates in Colombo Sales Manager Devika
Ellepola, made a brief speech, while Chandana de Silva
from the Emirates in Dubai did the honours of giving
away the awards. There was a celebrity gathering and
adding to the ambience of the evening were the usherettes
in the airline uniform which added colour and a touch
of style.
