Millionaire in town this April

Movie lovers and fans of the Oscar winning
Slumdog Millionaire are in for a treat as Ceylon Theatres
Limited has announced plans of bringing the movie to
Majestic Cinema on the April 17.
We will be running four shows of Slumdog Millionaire
starting on the April 17, Ceylon Theatres Limited,
Publicity Manager Thusitha de Alwis told The Bottom
Line. This British production filmed and based in Mumbai
won eight Oscars at the Academy Awards this year including
Best Picture, Best Director for Danny Boyle, Best Adapted
Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy and Best Original Score
and Song for A.R.Rahman. The movie is a rags to riches
tale about an 18 year old boy from the slums of Mumbai
who overcomes the odds to find his true love and become
a millionaire through the Who-Wants-to-be-a-Millionaire?
show. Its heartwarming and uplifting, and a brilliantly
portrayed story which took the world by storm.
Majestic Cinema is currently running the Clint Eastwood
movie, The Challenging starring Angelina
Jolie. The Changeling is a gripping story inspired by
actual events set in 1920s Los Angeles. Its the
story of a mother whose young son is kidnapped and after
months of frantic searching a boy is returned to her,
claiming to be her son. Despite knowing that this boy
isnt hers, she lets the boy stay in her house
and continues to fight for the truth about what happened
to her son, putting her life on the line challenging
a system which refuses to yield the truth. With more
celluloid magic coming our way, The challenging will
be replaced by Baz Luhrmans epic Australia
on the March 27. The movie starring the beautiful Nicole
Kidman and the gorgeous Hugh Jackman is a love story
set in World War Two in Australia and revolves around
the clashing of wills of two hard headed individuals.
Its the story of the beautiful aristocrat from
England who travels down under to sell her estate Faraway
Downs only to fall in love with the rugged land
and the even more rugged man who drives her cattle.
