ComBank’s ‘Shop ‘n’
win’ presents Rs. 1.6 million in prizes
The
Commercial Bank of Ceylon presented prizes worth Rs.
1.6 million to winners of its ‘Shop ‘n’
win’ promotion carried out in December 2008 for
the Bank’s debit and credit card holders.
Two lucky winners at the grand draw won return air tickets
to Singapore while 155 lucky winners received Rs. 10,000
each during the 31 days of the promotion. Names of winners
were published in newspapers and their prize monies
have been awarded, the Bank said. The cash prize winners
were chosen from those who spent a minimum of Rs. 5,000
per day on their debit or credit cards. The Bank presented
Rs.50,000 to five winners each day, during the promotion
period. All the participants were automatically entered
into the grand draw at which two air tickets were on
offer.
“We initiated this promotion to encourage people
to make better use of their debit and credit cards which
are much more convenient and safer than cash transactions,”
Chief Manager of Commercial Bank’s Card Centre
Lakshman Perera said.
The Commercial Bank already has more than 1.6 million
debit and credit cards in circulation. Last year, the
Bank began issuing ‘instant’ over-the-counter
ATM cum debit cards to customers at the point of opening
savings or current accounts.

magazine ‘Euromoney’.
