Chamani requires immediate surgery

Sri Lankas renowned sports medicine
doctor in Sydney Dr Siri Kannangara has said that Sri
Lankan womens cricket vice captain Chamani Seneviratna
would require immediate surgery on the damaged ligaments
of her left knee.
Dr Kannangara, consultant physician of rheumatology
and sports medicine told The Bottom Line
that unless Chamani undergoes surgery she will not be
able to continue her cricket career.
If she undergoes surgery in Sydney she has time
to recover very soon within three days but she will
be off the field for nearly six months from the date
of surgery, said Dr Kannangara.
Chamari was injured in the practice game against Australia
and has been ruled out of the World Cup.
Dr Kannangara is very famous in Sydney for sports medicine
and normally most Sri Lankan sportsmen and women go
to him for important advice and for treatment of injuries.
Olympic bronze medalist Susanthika Jayasinghe has been
treated on several occasions by Dr Kannangara. I
am always keen to give my services to the Sri Lankans
and I like do something for my country, he said.
TH Wijewardene to umpire
Sri Lankan umpire TH Wijewardene is to join the umpires
panel for the ongoing Womens World Cup tournament
in Sydney. He came to Sydney last Friday and said that
he got a call from the ICC to join the umpire panel.
Wijewardene will officiate the England v Pakistan match
in Sydney
