It seems that there is never a dull moment at Sri Lanka Cricket headquarters these days. Bogodage Hemachandra Perera alias ‘Podi Sir’ who created an uproar at the inaugural media briefing of the newly elected interim committee last week has become the victim of an assault carried out by a member of Sri Lanka’s World Cup winning team.
The incident had taken place later in the day of the press conference where it is alleged that Perera had been assaulted by interim committee member Pramodya Wickremasinghe in the room of interim committee chairman DS de Silva who was witness to the incident with his relative Suraj Dandeniya.
The employee who suffered injuries from the assault has been warded at the eye hospital and was due to undergo surgery yesterday.
On a complaint lodged by the victim at the Cinnamon Gardens police station the police had come to SLC headquarters to investigate but it is said that they had left without taking any statements when DS de Silva had imposed his political connections on them. The police had also visited the home of Wickremasinghe who had not been there.
