A ball you can’t run with!
| Legends of cricket, Aravinda de Silva and Sanath Jayasuriya share a ball of a different kind - the Cannon Ball outside the historic Galle Face Hotel. The duo ran towards the finish line together at the Galle Face Hotel’s annual Cannon Ball Run yesterday. For the first time in history the result was a tie with the prize money donated to charity. The traditional run held every March and attended by local and international enthusiasts alike, started in 1845 when the Artillery of the British Army sent a 30 pound cannon ball to the roof of the hotel while practising on the Galle Face Green.
