St. Peter’s Under 19 L/O Munchee Trophy Champs

Four suicidal run-outs made work easy for the favourites St. Peter’s as they beat their arch rivals St. Joseph’s by 196 runs in the Under 19 Limited-over Munchee Trophy cricket final played at SSC ground yesterday. The Josephians have only themselves to blame for their four silly run-out dismissals.

Winning the toss, Josephian captain Shameera Weerasinghe invited the Peterites to bat and their opening bowler Treshan Rajasuriya didn’t disappoint their captain as he captured the wicket of opener Angelo Emmanuel for just eight runs. One down batsman Shiwanga Ranasuriya also didn’t last for too long as he succumbed to a Dhambarage delivery for five. Though the Peterites were scoring at a slow rate, their captain Angelo Perera stood his ground and players like Andri Berenger, Isuru Peiris and Chatura Peiris chipped in with some useful partnerships with him.
