Prabha’s massive
‘genocide’ plan exposed!

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, the ‘Sun God’, is preparing for a bloodbath. This is nothing new to him. Even as early as 1990, he had already killed more than a thousand people from groups opposed to him. He has instructed his close aides to send e-mails to Tiger representatives worldwide and to the Tamil Diaspora saying, “If the Sri Lankan military does not stop its offensive against us, Prabhakaran has instructed us to blow up the whole ‘No Fire’ Zone (NFZ) along with the civilians, and put the blame on the Government forces.”

The LTTE’s ‘terror mail’
This e-mail goes further to say that, once Prabhakaran’s massive ‘genocide’ is completed, the LTTE will send messages through its representatives in the Diaspora, blaming the Sri Lankan Security Forces (SF) as being responsible for the massacre of the civilians within the NFZ. This e-mail very clearly indicates “Top Secret” and “Delete immediately after reading”.
This mail is from a gmail account and originates from the e-mail address defenceeelam@gmail.com. This column withholds the e-mail address of the recipient, to protect it’s identity and for security reasons.
On April 22, this column exposed the LTTE’s suicide mission against civilians. With civilians arriving into Government controlled areas in large numbers, the desperate LTTE dispatched two suicide bombers who exploded themselves among the civilians, killing 17, including women and children
Rebel or Terrorist?
While Prabhakaran kills his own people, what do we call him? A rebel, freedom fighter or just plain terrorist? But some INGOs, the international community and international media prefer to call the LTTE ‘rebel’. What are the criteria for calling him and his cadre rebels, when they are killing and maiming their own people, whom they claim to represent? Aren’t they just plain terrorists?
LTTE restricted to a sliver of land
There is only a five-and-half kilometres by one-and-a-half kilometres stretch remaining, for the LTTE, when this column went to print.
Last wedge of land
On Saturday (25), while elections were being held for the Western Provincial Council, Army Chief Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka visited Vavuniya SF HQ, where he was received by its CO Maj. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya. After a briefing by the CO, GOC 58 Division Brig. Shavendra Silva and Special Forces Brigade Commander Col. Aruna Kodippili, GOC 53 Division Maj. Gen. Kamal Gunaratne, conducted a briefing on the ongoing operations. The Army Chief was very pleased and congratulated the two elite Special Forces on their outstanding achievements during the hostage rescue mission. After which, the Commander instructed the Special Forces and the Commandos, both coming directly under the Army Commander, to remain as reserve forces for deployment, if and when necessary. Meanwhile, GOC 58 Division was instructed to advance further into the NFZ.

Tiger cadres surrender, reveal LTTE details
On Sunday (26) 23 Tiger cadres surrendered to the 58 Division at Valayarmadam. The cadres, on interrogation, revealed that Prabhakaran had ordered that, civilians fleeing Tiger custody into military controlled areas, to be gunned down. They also revealed that the Tiger leader has deployed a special team to shoot at civilians fleeing Tiger custody.
The LTTE cadres also said that, Prabhakaran now wears civilian dress, and not the LTTE uniform, and that, he was shifting from bunker to bunker, always escorted by Black Tiger or suicide cadres. His mood and facial expression showing depression and disappointment, they said. Obviously, Prabhakaran should be depressed, more so, after having lost the vast area of real estate under his control earlier, and now, only confined to a tiny sliver of land, only a fraction of his earlier dreamland of Eelam.
Another earth bund overcome by troops
As the 58 Division advanced around 800 metres from Valayarmadam, they encountered another massive earth bund. Even as this column is being written, the 19 Gajaba Regiment (GR), 20 GR, 10 GR, 12 Gemunu Watch (GW) and 10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) are attempting to breach this bund. While the troops are thus engaged, the LTTE is directing fire on them with its 122mm, 12.7mm weapons and 30mm Paddle Guns, battlefield sources said.
At Valayarmadam, an earth bund was the main obstacle for the 58 Division troops, as they advanced further. Troops of the 58-1 Brigade under Lt. Col. Deshapriya Gunawardane, 14 GR under Maj. Janaka Pallekumbura, 10 GR under Major Janaka Udovita, 20 GR under Maj. Kumar Peris, 12 GW under Lt. Col. Nandana Chandrasena and 10 SLLI under Lt. Col. Samatha Wimalasena, negotiated this earth bund during the night of Monday (27).
Finally troops from 10 SLLI and 12 GW overcame the earth bund and cleared the way for the troops’ advance. Subsequently, during a lull in fighting at night, a soldier from 12 GW heard the sound of a heavy vehicle approaching towards the now breached bund from the direction of the NFZ.
He quickly fired a RPG at the vehicle. A massive explosion occurred as the explosives-laden lorry blew up. Though the brave soldier who fired the RPG lost one of his arms, his timely instinctive action saved the lives of a large number of his comrades. The explosion injured 17 other soldiers in the vicinity.
Meanwhile, south of the A-35 road, snipers of Task Force VIII are targeting LTTE leaders and cadres and killing them one by one, military sources say.
World’s largest rescue mission is continuing
On Monday (27) President Mahinda Rajapaksa summoned a meeting of the Government’s Security Council (SC). At this meeting, the Army Chief briefed the President on the ongoing operations. President Rajapaksa reiterated to him that the number one priority should be to rescue the civilians from being held hostage by the LTTE. The President also instructed Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Commander Air Marshal Roshan Gunatilleke to provide the necessary transport facilities to dispatch the necessary assistance, including food, medicines etc to the IDPs.
At this SC meeting, another vital decision was taken not to use heavy weapons in the civilian hostage rescue operation. Basically, there was no necessity for the use of heavy weapons like the 130, 152mm artillery or Multi Barrel Rocket Launchers (MBRL) within the remaining area of the NFZ, as these weapons cannot be used at close range. From Valayarmadam, which came under military control on Monday (27), to the other end of the NFZ near Mullaitivu, the distance is only around 5.5 km and the width is around 1.5 km.
No sooner this news was released, the media, especially, the foreign media, ‘ran amok’ with the latest twist. Most reports said that the Sri Lankan Government had declared a ceasefire and stopped the ongoing operations in the northeast.
The world’s largest rescue mission is continuing, with over 135,000 civilian rescued by the SF. LTTE cadres have been firing at civilians trying to enter government controlled areas, killing quite a number and wounding a lot more.
Evidence of this could be seen by those injured being given treatment after they enter military controlled areas. Some of the seriously injured, especially children, have been airlifted to hospitals outside these areas, and even to Colombo. The civilians themselves condemn these barbaric acts committed by the LTTE cadres, who claim to represent them.
Prabhakaran’s rescue operation under way
While the rescue operations are continuing, e-mails are continuing to flood the Tamil Diaspora and international agencies and governments. The latest such message says, “Our leader will be captured or killed any moment. You are our safety net now. Pressurise your respective governments and bureaucrats through hunger strikes, protests/demonstrations etc to influence you respective governments, politicians and officials.”
As a result of these types of messages, the Co-Chairs – USA, UK, Japan and Norway, through the US State Department’s acting spokesman Robert Wood, urged the Sri Lankan Government to grant an amnesty to the LTTE. This appeal was rejected by the Sri Lankan Government, no sooner it was issued. Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa told this columnist that, “There is no such phrase as ‘amnesty to the LTTE’ in my vocabulary”. He said, “The LTTE has to surrender or face elimination.”
Tigers declare ‘unilateral ceasefire’
This is another tactic of the LTTE to declare a unilateral ceasefire, because they expect continued International sympathy
Within hours of the Sri Lankan Government’s rejection, the LTTE, through websites sympathetic to it, issued a ‘declaration of a unilateral ceasefire’, and stated that all offensive operations will cease. But several questions arise as to why a losing Tiger outfit has to declare a ceasefire. Does it have offensive capabilities right now? They do not posses offensive capabilities even to mount counterattacks. The reason being a severe dearth of manpower coupled with the low morale of its remaining cadre and the ever shrinking land area.
Civilians entering Government controlled areas, have repeatedly told the military that children as young as 12 to 13 years were being forcibly taken from their parents, given guns and sent to fight the ‘enemy’. Most of the parents plead with the military to save their children from LTTE clutches.
UN’s chief of humanitarian affairs John Holmes visit
Meanwhile, UN’s chief of humanitarian affairs John Holmes arrived in the island on Sunday (26) on the invitation of the Government. He visited the main IDP welfare centre ‘Menik Farm’ in Vavuniya on Monday (27) morning.
He was accompanied by the newly appointed Competent Authority for IDP affairs, Maj. Gen. G.A. Chandrasiri. Sir Holmes was received by Vavuniya SF HQ CO Maj. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya who briefed Holmes on the current situation at the welfare centers. Sir Holmes, through interpreters, freely spoke with the IDPs and, on his return to Colombo the same evening, while meeting President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said he was pleased with the Government’s handling of the situation and promised another grant of US$ 10 million for the IDPs welfare.
Why so much international pressure to save
Prabhakaran?
There is no such pressure whatsoever from any of these interested parties to save Osama bin Laden’s skin, he being so ‘tame’, compared with our Prabhakaran. Bin Laden and Prabhakaran are both terrorists.
Enter British, French, Swedish Ministers
Meanwhile, prominent exposure was given in the foreign media to reports that the British government had said its Foreign Secretary David Miliband will travel to Sri Lanka with his French and Swedish counterparts, to attempt to mediate on the conflict in the country’s northeast.
It said, “A statement by Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s Downing Street office says Miliband will travel to the country on Wednesday along with France’s Bernard Kouchner and Sweden’s Carl Bildt. The statement released Sunday added that Brown has spoken to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and repeated calls for a ceasefire.
Surprisingly, none of these countries or governments who show so much concern for Lanka’s ‘civilians’, have appreciated the tiny country’s military having saved more than 135,000 civilians within a few days.
