War victory unites

Successful defeat of terrorism has apparently inspired opposition political parties to rally around the cause for a concentrated effort to resolve other pressing national issues.
This was evidenced by the SLMC yesterday proposed a joint appeal to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by all political parties urging for the speedy release of the US$1.9 billion loan that is currently bogged down in deliberations.

The defeat of terrorism and successful end of war in the country has certainly lifted the spirits of all and sundry. People are beginning to breathe fresh air of tranquility after the guns went silent in the North. The country’s private sector too has seen its confidence being regained and new optimism blossoming. Since last week the nation has seen an unprecedented wave of jubilation and patriotism. With advertisements praising the political and military leadership as well as valiant soldiers, the corporate sector too has risen to the occasion. However not many have gone to the extent of keeping the spirits alive. A rare exception and perhaps first among top corporates, seems the country’s leading mobile telecom company Dialog whose website’s home page look livelier with this heroic picture of soldiers and salutations. |
