Mercantile K/O Basketball C’ships today

The 7th Ram Ratnavale Memorial Challenge Trophy Mercantile Knock-out Basketball Championships, conducted by MSBA will get underway today, June 3 at the MCA Courts at 5.30 p.m.
Twenty-four men’s teams in 5 groups and three women’s teams in a single group will be participating.
Men’s Tournament
Group “A”: Sampath Bank (defending champions), DFCC (2008 runners- up), Dialog Telekom, Akbar Brothers (2008 “B” winner), and Nations Trust Bank “A”
Group “B”: Avante Garde, Union Assurance, Ranawana & Company, David Pieris Motor Company and Hatton National Bank
Group “C”: HSBC and SriLankan Airlines
Group “D”: Hayleys, Amana Takaful, Soft Logic, Airport & Aviation “A” , Mobitel, John Keells, Expo Lanka and Nations Trust Bank “B”
Group “E”: Airport & Aviation “B”, Standard Chartered Bank, Brumbey’s International & Price Water House Coopers
Women’s Tournament
One group comprising: Seylan Bank, Hatton National Bank and Mobitel
All matches will be played at the same venue with the “A” & “B” final scheduled for 26th June, under lights. – [LW]
