Two new parliamentarians sworn in

Chandima Weerakkody and Nandimithra Ekanayake were sworn in as parliamentarians before the Speaker this morning.
Chandima Weerakkody representing the Galle District was sworn in as an MP to fill the vacancy created by the death of former Justice Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda.
Nandimithra Ekanayake will fill the vacant seat left behind by the recent death of former Matale District United National Party MP Alick Aluvihare.
Nandimithra Ekanayake has contested the 2004 General Elections on the UNP list and was the next highest preferential votes taker after Alick Aluvihare.
However, he later crossed over to the ruling party and was elected to the Central Provincial Council as a member in elections.
