This is the second such facility Suntel has developed due to the rapid growth of business from its corporate and business customers.
Attended by Suntel’s corporate customers, IT Consultants, media personnel and Directors from Suntel’s parent company the occasion was a landmark of Suntel’s commitment to focus on customer requirements and information security.
In today’s ‘knowledge and information age’ corporate data and information is a key factor to business success. Information about corporate customers, products & services, historical data, production designs, strategic alliances, suppliers and employees is vital for the smooth operation of any enterprise. Maintenance and integrity of such information is a crucial strength of most successful organizations while business continuity is vital to a company’s success. If a system becomes unavailable, company operations will be impaired or may come to a complete standstill. It is vital to provide reliable infrastructure for IT operations in order to minimise disruption. Information security is equally important where theft or loss of such information could mean loss of business or future revenue.
Suntel is focused on customer requirements and opened its first IDC facility back in year 2001. With the gradual growth of business and wider awareness of business continuity planning amongst customers Suntel began investment on a new facility in a separate location in August 2007. Suntel obtained the ISO IEC 27001:2005 Certification for managed security services for this facility. Their expertise in managing services has been recognised by the delivery of key projects such as SWIFT, the inter bank FOREX transaction operations for which Suintel manages the end to end delivery and performance. The new complex located in Malabe outside Colombo city limits is an investment of USD 7 million. It is a state of the art facility complying with international standards of information security. With this new complex Suntel has more than doubled its capacity to provide information security related services.
Suntel Managing Director Jeremy Huxtable speaking at the occasion said, “The support we have here has given us the confidence to make investments in new technologies and services despite the current difficult economic environment. The success of our first facility has made the decision to invest much easier.”
He added that they we will continue to deliver world class telecommunication services to enable corporate Sri Lanka to face global challenges which is particularly important at this historic moment in Sri Lanka’s history. Suntel Chairman Anders Ekman said that the timing is perfect as enterprises are gearing up for growth to take advantage of the long term peace and development program that will now take place in the country. “ICT plays a big role in a country’s development and we are glad to be an integral part of it with this new investment.”
