New Head of Legal at Amana

Ms. Preeni Dunuwille Koralege, an Attorney-at-Law by profession, has joined Amana Investments as the new Head of Legal. Ms. Koralege holds an LLB degree from the University of Colombo and has over 21 years experience in active legal practice, Corporate Law and Banking.
She started her professional legal career in 1988 as a Professional Assistant at F.J. & G. de Saram. She took to the Banking Industry in 1995 by joining ABN Amro Bank where she handled Legal, Recoveries, Credit Risk Management and Control. She subsequently worked as the General Manager (Legal and Corporate) at the Confifi Group of Companies. Her last stint was at Peoples Bank as Special Executive – Legal and was a part of the banks Corporate Management Team.
“We are happy to have recruited Mrs. Koralege as she has a wealth of legal knowledge and skills which will add value to the organization, especially in our transformation into full-fledged Islamic banking,” said Mr. Fairoze Burah, Head of HR and Administration of Amana Investments.
Ms. Koralege will be the first lady to sit on Amana’s Corporate Management Team. She will provide legal advice and guidance to the company with regard to all business activities. As the Head of the Legal Department, she will also provide advice and direction to Amana’s senior management on all legal documentation including syndicated financing, commercial and corporate financing, guarantees, marketing activities and other commercial contracts.
