flydubai cancels launch of flights to India
flydubai has cancelled the launch of flights to India. The Dubai-based airline had planned to launch flights to Lucknow, Coimbatore and Chandigarh this month.
flydubai blamed “operational issues” for the cancellations. Flights to Lucknow had been scheduled to commence today, July 13, with flights to Coimbatore and Chandigarh scheduled for July 14 and July 14 launches respectively.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said, “We understand that this is very inconvenient for the passengers who have booked flights with us to India and we apologise for the disruption and disappointment caused.”
Al Ghaith said that all flydubai passengers who had booked flights to India would be contacted and given a full refund, plus a voucher for a free return flight to India or anywhere on the flydubai network, which will be valid for travel until the end of November 2009.
“India remains an important market for us and we will make an announcement in the very near future on when our flights to the region will begin,” he added.
