infrastructure development in North

After the Security Forces capturing the entire Northern Province, there has been a significant interest within the business community in Sri Lanka as well as overseas to explore opportunities in Jaffna and other key cities in the area. Telecom operators too seriously looking in to expand their network in to this arena as communication are a vital tool for the development of the region.

Sierra Global Network Private Limited, one of the leading telecommunication infrastructure development companies in the country has been proactively working in the Northern Province assisting telecom operators to expand their networks.
Amongst many telecommunication infrastructure development projects, Sierra has successfully constructed Fibre Optic Cable network of SLT from Jaffna exchange to Vavuniya exchange in the past giving a seamless broadband connection from Colombo directly to Jaffna. Further, Sierra has successfully completed the 3G / GSM expansion project in Jaffna Peninsula for Mobitel at the beginning of this year in a very short time frame as requested by Mobitel.
“We have delivered this project complying with all the agreed time lines, budget, and quality standards and to the fullest satisfaction of Mobitel,” Sierra Global Network Private Limited CEO Dr. Arosha Fernando said.
“It has been a great challenge especially due to the given tight deadlines as well as considering the limitations of resources in the terrain. However, our team has proven once again nothing is impossible. They have worked continuously for 2 months including Christmas and New Year without any break in achieving the set target by Mobitel. Through this project Mobitel has managed to provide the coverage to the entire Jaffna Peninsula” he further added.
Sierra has been engaged in many construction activities in Jaffna and other parts of the Northern Province over the past 20 years and has always been the key player in this region particularly for telecommunication infrastructure development and some other constructions areas including building construction and roads. Jaffna Courts Complex and Jaffna Technical College are some of the recent construction projects of Sierra in the Jaffna City. Sierra has been continually marinating their presence in the Northern Province through having a permanent office in the Jaffna City.
