Swine flu cases reach 37

Two women aged 45 and 13, travelling to Sri Lanka from the UK were the latest Swine Flu victims to be screened and taken to the IDH for treatment yesterday. The latest detection takes the number of patients who were diagnosed with Novel Influenza A/H1N1 to 37 in Sri Lanka.
Officials at the Epidemiology Unit explained that all of the patients diagnosed had entered the country from abroad with no detection among the local population as yet. Many of those who are diagnosed have also been foreign nationals while the ages of those diagnosed vary from a two and a half year old girl traveling from Australia to a 54 year old man traveling from USA via UK. 25 of the 37 patients had entered the country from Australia, where over 1000 individuals are thought to have contracted the flu.
