NAM to listen to Mahinda today

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to address the 15th Non Aligned Movement today at Sharm-al-Sheikh, Egypt. The President reached Egypt at around 4.30 pm yesterday and was greeted by Egyptian Environmental Minister Maged George.
The Non Aligned Movement which has a membership of 118 members will be gathering in the resort town bordering the Mediterranean in order to discuss plans of action that need to be implemented within member states to reach their goals within the next three years. The NAM summit will also focus on global warming and terrorism.
During his stay, President Rajapaksa is due to hold talks with several other heads of state and is also due to deliver a speech. While the Ministers’ Meeting was held during the last few days, the Heads of State are due to meet and conduct working committees today and tomorrow after which the Summit concludes.
The President was accompanied by Foreign Ministry Secretary Palitha Kohona, MP Wimal Weerawansa, and Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga among others.
