Inzamam smells groupings
within Pak team

KARACHI: Former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq on Monday said groupings within the team could be the reason behind Pakistan’s dismal show in the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka.
“I fear there might be groupings in the team. I think Younus Khan has not been successful in gelling the team as yet,” Inzamam said.
“If any player is indeed involved in such things then he should be penalised immediately by the board and team management,” Inzamam told ‘Jang’ newspaper.
The former captain’s comments came at a time when unconfirmed stories are doing the rounds that some senior players were not wholeheartedly supporting Younus as captain.
Pakistan’s batting performances in two successive innings in Sri Lanka has been disastrous as they were bowled out for just 117 in their second innings in first Test and 90 in the first innings of second Test.
Inzamam said it would be very difficult for Pakistan to claw back in the second Test after being bowled out for such a low score in their first innings.
“But I don’t think it is impossible because we have players capable of playing long innings the second time around if they put their mind to it,” said the most capped Pakistani player with 120 Test and 378 ODI appearances. – [PTI]
