Tissainayagam sentence to 20 years

August 31, 2009 12.30pm: Journalist J. Tissainayagam was today morning sentenced by the Colombo High Court to 20 years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI).
The sentence was passed by the bench under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. Tissainayagam was found guilty of three charges with five years of RI being imposed on two charges while the third carried a 10 year sentence. The Journalist had been under detention for over a year and the family has assured that they will appeal the sentence.
