Prof. Armstrong key note speaker at Best Corporate Citizen Awards 2009

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will host the Best Corporate Citizen Award 2009, on Thursday, 10th December 2009; the CSR Awards celebrates six years of promoting Corporate Social Responsibility within the business community this year.
Prof. Anona Armstrong, Director of the Centre for International Corporate Governance Research at Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia, is slated as the Keynote Speaker for this year’s Awards ceremony.
Professor Armstrong is a Professor Governance and a registered psychologist. She has served on the University Academic Board and Research Committee, and Faculty of Business and Law Committees and is a member of the Victorian Government’s Higher Education Accreditation Committee. Before joining VU, Prof. Armstrong was the Managing Director of Trunkline Pty. Ltd. and Evaluation Training & Services (Australia) Pty. Ltd. Professor Armstrong is an author of 16 books and has presented papers in the US, UK, Canada and China.
Professor Armstrong is a past President and Life Member of the Australasian Evaluation Society and a Member of the American Evaluation Society. She was elected a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society and the Victorian Division of the Institute of Public Administration in Australia, and is a Life Member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge.Professor Armstrong has successfully led teams of researchers in obtaining consultancies and several grants including an ARC Linkage grant Governance in Small Business Among her current interests are governance, evaluation, community governance, corporate social responsibility, governance in Indonesia, tourism in Dubai, ethics and leadership, and university governance. For this year’s awards, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, in keeping with their discipline of continuous improvement, has decided to encourage companies to adopt a strategic approach which will strengthen a company’s commitment to CSR. The Awards application has been re-oriented to reflect this approach. All private and public companies and Government owned business enterprises are eligible to apply for the Best Corporate Citizen Awards. Applications close on the 14th of October 2009.
