Asylum seeker deported from Aus arrested in Colombo

Police arrested an asylum seeker deported from Australia last weekend in Colombo yesterday on a people smuggling charge.
Indika Mendis, 28, was one of the nine men who were forced to return after the Australian government refused asylum and deported back.
The men were detained in the Christmas Island waiting for asylum process but failed to meet criteria for protection in Australia.
Mendis was reportedly the skipper of a boat that sailed into Shark Bay, Western Australia, last November smuggling a group of people.
