MCA ‘D’ division gets underway

In the opening weekend itself, K. Madusanka from Debug and Anushka Polonowita from Dimo emerged as centurions in the MCA Division “D” 50 overs league tournament 2010 season, which got under way last week-end.
Both centuries came in the same match at Kotahena, Madushanka being the first (125 in 119 balls, inclusive of 12 fours and a six) and Polonovita following (105 in 101 balls, inclusive of 12 fours and a six). The match ended in a heart stopping 9 runs win for Debug over Dimo.
Damith Ratnayake figured prominently for Hayleys, as they registered back to back wins over Debug and Arpico, Ratnayake bagged a good double (3 for 8 in 9 overs indcluding 5 maidens and 50 in 51 balls with 8 fours and a six) in their 7 wickets win over Debug and followed up with a fine knock of 55 not out ( 47 balls, 10 fours and one six) in their 6 wickets win over Arpico.
A 165 runs, 4th wicket stand by K.N.R. Silva (86 in 94 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes) and AP Weerasinghe (85 in 86 balls with 4 sixes, 10 fours) helped Shaw Wallace Distributors to amass 255 in 48.2 overs and register a 78 runs win over DPMC.
The best bowling for the weekend came from A. Elaboda (5 for 45) from DPMC, but ending up in the losing side, as Shaw Wallace beat them by 78 runs.
