Tasting the Spice Festival
Braving brooding skies people flocked to the Galle Face Green to taste the World Spice Food Festival bringing together a host of tastes that spanned a variety of experiences and exchanges of memories.
Food is more than just nutrition. Its colour and culture and company, all were displayed in abundance at Galle Face Green over the weekend. However for people who could not make it, never fear the festivities will continue till the end of this week at various hotels and restaurants around town. 
Sri Lanka’s hospitality industry has risen to the occasion as always with a combination of 12 top city hotels and six restaurants being enthusiastically involved in ensuring that the master chefs will be on hand to showcase the magical culinary delights, throughout the week.
The hotels and restaurants that will don the chef’s hat at the World Spice Food Festival are, Hilton Colombo (Asian Sea Food), Hilton Colombo Residencies (Vietnamese), Cinnamon Lake Side (Singapore), Cinnamon Grand (Spanish), Taj Samudra (Moroccan), Water’s Edge (Indonesian / Balinese), Galle Face Hotel (Malaysian), Holiday Inn (Jaffna food), Mount Lavinia Hotel (Cuban American), Grand Oriental Hotel (Hong Kong/ Chinese), Ceylon Continental (North Indian), Regina Margharita (Italian), Nihon Bashi (Japanese), The Mango Tree (Indian), Siam House (Thai), Raja Bojun (Sri Lankan) and The Sizzle with their unique sizzlers’ concept.
The Galadari Hotel, one of the many hotels participating in the world spice food festival will host the Lebanese Food Festival till November 14 at the Sheherezade Arabic Restaurant .Savour the flovours of authentic Lebanese Cuisine as Chef Walid Mohamed Roshdy Wahid who is flown in from Egypt will showcase his culinary skills and dish out some of the best dishes from the Middle East. The promotion will be on for dinner only.
The Feast prepared by Chef Wahid, will consist of diverse cuisine from the country and will feature over thirty dishes from Salads, Soups, Kebabs, Tandoori and over 15 delicious desserts.
The menu bringing the best of the Lebanese fare such as Chicken Shawarma, Lebanese Grilled Chicken, Arabic Mezza, Magluba Rice, Falafel, Kofta Kebabs, Lamb Mosaka to name a few. For dessert you could try the popular Bak Busa or the Arabic Honey Cake and many more items
