Unique marketing concept has impulsive customers coming for more

Impulsive cravings ambush us all the time. They sneak up on you while shopping, during conversations, at work and while stuck in traffic jams. JiGSAW hotdogs with their logo of “We are near you” says it all when it comes to satisfying these unannounced cravings that almost always demand fast food.
With their unique blend of tastes and selling point JiGSAW is sure to catch the eye of everyone on the road between Rajagiriya and Battaramulla. A bright red and yellow truck parked before Dominos pizza is impossible to miss and many curious customers who gave into their impulses have become fans of the range of hotdogs that are offered by JiGSAW. Though curiosity is what leads people there it is the quality that keeps them coming back for more.
“Six people came together to create JiGSAW,” says Director Ihan Jayawardana recalling the discussion that gave birth to this creative combo. “We were all talking about how it was difficult to find good hotdogs in Colombo and being foodies ourselves decided to solve the problem.” This resulted in many months of experimentation that resulted in interesting mixes and the birth of new sauces. JiGSAW even invented a sweet relish for there signature New Yorker dog as the genuine relish was deemed too sour for the Sri Lankan palate.
“At the end of the six months we were sick of hot dogs,” Ihan laughs adding that once the range of hot dogs was completed it was time to roll the dogs to town. “We did a soft launch with one truck in October but hope to add another next week. We have come up with a new design for the second truck because there were a few glitches in the first one that we wanted to avoid and once the second truck is out the first will go in for a short refurbishment.” They are also looking to expand from Rajagiriya to Galle road and High Level road right up to Mt. Lavinia. Once the 3rd and 4th trucks join the fleet JiGSAW might even be found in Wattala and other areas out of greater Colombo.
“We are keen to expand and feel that there are a lot of opportunities outside of Colombo. Wattala has an urbanised community but few places of fast food so I think JiSAW has a good chance of becoming a hit out there.” Ihan also outlined plans to expand the menu by including a mutton hotdog and eventually a kiddies range, at the moment it has 10 varieties.
Nestled in a soft, warm bun JiGSAW dogs come as the Fountain Dog (chicken sausage with Fountain Sauce), JiGSAW (chicken sausage with secret Signature Sauce), Pepper Dog (chunky beef sausage with pepper sauce), BBQ, which is among the favourites for its spicy flavour and of course the inimitable New Yorker with its tantalising sweet and spicy taste and Italiano (pepperoni sausage topped with mayonnaise, Fountain Sauce and cheese) the latter was the dark horse that won the hearts of dog fans.
With foresight JiGAW partnered with a Halal sausage company to ensure that their delights could be bit into by all people and is intent on maintaining high standards. “Every week we have a meeting where we evaluate the product and ensure that all our suppliers and staff maintain the same focus on quality.” So give into the impulse next time you see the red and yellow JiGSAW truck and savour a craving satisfying moment.
