Hemantha Kumara wins cycling gold

Sri Lankan cyclist Janaka Hemantha Kumara won the gold medal in the 170km road race event at Kholan, Dhaka yesterday. Kumara of Sri Lanka Air Force finished in four hours, 48 minutes and 34 seconds taking the gold. However last year’s gold medalist CP Meemanage finished fifth while two other Sri Lankans, Sumanasiri Premachandra and Dan Nugera got injured during this race. Both cyclists could not finish the event. Sudeera Nilanga was placed ninth. Indian Rajendra Bishnoi and Pakistani Nisar Ahmed were placed second and third respectively to take silver and bronze medals.
