President to be informed before arresting journos

President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Minister of Mass Media and Information instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to inform him before any legal action is to be taken against any journalist. This follows a request by the Editor of the Ravaya Newspaper Victor Ivan.
Meanwhile, Editor of the Lanka newspaper Chandana Sirimalwatte who was in CID custody was discharged yesterday. He was arrested by the CID on January 29.
