Dr Dayaratna Silva SL Ambassador to WTO

Dr Dayaratna Silva presented to Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Pascal Lamy the letter of appointment as Ambassador and the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the World Trade Organisation (WTO),
Dr Silva, who completed his primary education at Waskaduwa Sri Subuthi Vidyalaya and Horana Taxila Central College, is a holder of Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Peradeniya securing a first class honours. By profession, he is a trade economist with several postgraduate qualifications to his name including Master Degree from the University of London and PhD in Economics from the University of Melbourne, Australia specialising in the field of international trade.
He is a senior official from the Department of Commerce with experience spanning over 28 years and had previously served in a number of Sri Lankan Overseas Missions including London, Brussels, Geneva and Dubai.
